For individual shareholders, you will need a coloured passport copy (plus Emirates ID if you are a UAE resident), a recent passport-size photograph, your residential address, phone number and email, three company name options, and your business activity details.
Corporate shareholders also need a shareholders resolution authorizing the formation of the RAKEZ company and the appointment of a general manager, the existing company's trade license or certificate of registration, the memorandum and articles of association, and a certificate of good standing or incumbency.
If you are already inside the UAE, your existing visa status is changed to a new residence visa sponsored by your RAKEZ company. If you are outside the UAE, you enter the country on a RAKEZ-issued entry permit, get it stamped upon arrival, then proceed with the remaining steps in-country.
It can take up to seven working days to get a RAKEZ trade license. After your license is issued, it can take another 3-4 weeks to completely set up your RAKEZ business.
You can include up to five business activities under a RAKEZ trade license. The activities can be from different industry sectors but they have to be deemed compatible by the free zone authority.
